5 things we loved this week

By Sophie de Renzy

Why chase trends when you can treasure the timeless? This week’s edit mixes heirloom-worthy jewellery, considered everyday bags, and babywear designed to be loved now and passed down.

1. Building blocks

Autumn has entered the chat, and not only are we updating our wardrobes, we’re also upgrading our bags. Edition 02 by Yu Mei has dropped as part of their monthly core-style release, and it’s safe to say we want them all. Designed as the building blocks of a considered carrying wardrobe, cult favourite styles such as the Claudia tote, Braidy bag, and Ch’lita bag return in Molasses, a deep brown, while the Bobby bag, Teresa tote, and Joan bag are introduced in an elevated sandy suede. These bags are essentials we’ll reach for every day.

2. Pearls of wisdom

Have you heard of the language of flowers? Meadowlark Jewellery’s latest collection, Emile, takes the idea and runs with it. Daisy-like forms celebrate imperfection and fleeting beauty, clustered, threaded with silk, or suspended so each piece feels lived-in. From drop earrings to the Pearl Rope Necklace, every design carries a sense of familiarity, like a modern heirloom. At the centre of the collection, a vintage-inspired diamond engagement ring honours commitment and the ritual of adornment. Emile is available online and in select stores now.

3. Woven in time

Francie’s Chapter 13 ‘Heirloom Jewels’ turns cosy staples into keepsakes, blending possum, merino, and silk in jewel-rich tones like Amber, Plum, and Malbec. Hand-sewn shell buttons and thoughtful construction mean these pieces – from the Fireside Knit to the limited-edition Heirloom Doll’s Cardigan – are made to be loved and lived in. Crafted locally across Australia and Aotearoa on some of the last historic knitting machines, it’s knitwear that feels personal, precious, and made to last.

4. Far from basic

Once a designer at Kate Sylvester, Lydia now handmakes babywear designed to be cherished and passed down through generations. For ages 0–3, each piece celebrates craftsmanship, texture, and longevity. Produced in limited runs from natural fibres right here in Aotearoa, her collections are available exclusively on Instagram.

5. Born to move

Sweaty Betty celebrates movement with its latest Born Sweaty campaign. Movement isn’t about pushing harder or racing faster – it’s simply showing up. From morning walks to Pilates sessions or a few stolen minutes just for yourself, every step counts. Designed for women in constant motion, the new collection moves effortlessly from studio to street, offering support and style for every stretch, step, and shift. It’s activewear that keeps up with life, not the other way around.
