5 things we loved this week

28 January 2026
By Sophie de Renzy

From statement leather and Valentine’s gifting to fan-favourite pop-ups, polo essentials, and winter’s most anticipated tailoring, here is what our editors are bookmarking this week.

1. Meet your match

Monster Mayhem has landed. Deadly Ponies’ Fall ’26 collection mixes earthy basics like Java and Toffee with pops of Tamarillo, Frog green, and Dusk blue. Glossy eel embossing, soft suedes, and polished hardware give familiar shapes a fresh edge, keeping the collection playful but sophisticated. It’s leather with personality, designed to stand out without trying too hard.

2. BONNIE takes Ponsonby

Auckland, get ready – BONNIE x Caitlin Crisp pops up for the final stop of the Summer of BONNIE series. This weekend, visit the Caitlin Crisp Ponsonby store to shop the full BONNIE range in person alongside Caitlin Crisp’s new collection, including the exclusive BONNIE Bodice. Need another reason to shop? The first 50 purchases on Friday will receive a free makeup bag; while on Saturday, enjoy lemon spritz cocktails from lunchtime. Friday 30th and Saturday 31st, 10 am-4 pm, 79 Ponsonby Road.

3. Less is more

Taylor’s Winter 2026 collection, Lacuna, explores the space between, finding beauty in absence as much as presence. Jackets curve, skirts fall diagonally, and tailoring details shift subtly, reimagining familiar shapes. A palette of charcoal, pewter, and deep espresso adds shadow and depth, while unexpected hems and drifting pockets hint at playful experimentation. Designed for those drawn to shape and discovery, Lacuna celebrates curiosity and subtlety.

4. For you, or them

This Valentine’s, Michael Hill makes gifting (or keeping) effortless. From delicate diamond studs to statement pendants, each piece marks connection and the moments in between. Thoughtful sets and classic favourites make it easy to find something meaningful – whether it’s a first gift, a forever piece, or a little treat for yourself. Michael Hill, designed to be worn now and treasured always.

5. Match-day essentials

Polo season kicks off with the CC Polo Club Capsule, a limited-edition collection by Caitlin Crisp released ahead of the Milford New Zealand Polo Open. Featuring three match-day essentials: a cap, tote, and cotton knit jumper, the capsule is designed to wear well beyond the field. Easy yet elevated, the pieces reflect how polo audiences dress today. The capsule is available in limited quantities, ahead of the February 15 event in Clevedon.
