Gifting season may be just around the corner, but right now is the sweet spot to bag a deal or two for yourself. Here's what we're suggesting you put at the top of your list...

1. In residence

Local online label COMMONPLACE ESSENTIALS has opened an ‘In Residence’ pop-up on Britomart’s Tyler Street for three days—and we were fortunate enough to go and peruse the racks before it was revealed to the public to shop. With their sought-after summer collection on display, including their sell-out Commonplace x Mckinlays collab, complimentary iced matcha, gifts with purchase and, not to mention, a really beautiful fitout, you don’t want to sleep on an opportunity to touch, see, and try on the seasonal edit lovingly designed by founder and former Friday Muse Estelle Dippie.

2. Sure can!

As the weekends quickly become populated with al fresco dinners with friends, we’re reaching for The Uncommon Wine of New Zealand to throw into our bags on our way out the door. Offering premium Marlborough wine in an innovative canned format, The Uncommon Wine of New Zealand ‘s standout varietals—Twiggy (Rosé) and Leonard (Sauvignon Blanc)—are fast becoming a favourite for those who value their palates and the planet. Using local grapes and sustainable winemaking practices, their wines are a modern, eco-friendly alternative to traditional bottles, with a 79% lower carbon footprint. Better still, they’re stocked at your local New World, Farro and Woolworths, making it even easier to slip into your weekly shop.

3. Prime time

Summer is all about simplifying. We pare our wardrobes and skincare regimens back to basics, doubling down on products and pieces that fit multiple purposes. New Zealand-based B-Corp clean beauty brand Aleph’s latest innovation understands this inside and out, releasing their Smoothing Skin Tint SPF/20 – a 3-in-1 skincare, make-up, and sun protection hybrid designed to smooth, blur, and protect in one effortless step. The broad-spectrum mineral SPF 20 protection with PA+++ rating melts into the skin, providing an intense glow with a sheer wash of colour that can be layered under make-up or worn alone. Available in three buildable shades, Aleph’s Smoothing Skin Tint is a fuss-free and fail-proof product you’ll soon rather not live without.

4. ID, please

We adore a monogrammed moment, always have, always will. And apparently, so does local lingerie label Videris who are now offering a monogramming service to their beloved knIcker styles. You can customise their popular brief silhouettes, available in Shield, Pure, Rosy, and Olive, with up to three initials making them a completely bespoke gesture for a loved one (yourself included). Made from super-soft sustainable TENCEL™, founder Chloé Julian created the brand with a focus on ethics, sustainability, and mindfulness.

5. On ice

ghd has dropped their exclusive colourway for the gifting season as it’s very, very cool. Frozen, in fact. Dipping into an icy shade of blue, this limited edition hue gives your favourite tools a frosty pearlescent finish. Whether they’re destined for the stockings of your nearest or dearest or the beauty drawer of yours truly, this drop (coupled with a very timely Black Friday discount, might we add) is an opportune time to upgrade your hair styling tools or experiment with a new one. From slick straight styles from the blue chronos to bouncy fresh duet blow-dry, ghd is here to put your hair woes, err, on ice.
