5 things we loved this week

Start building your autumn wardrobe with the latest drops from La Tribe; reboot your fitness regime with Almighty’s Active Reset; tame your tresses with the new ghd; and more.

1. Step right up

Stride stylishly into autumn with the latest collection from footwear connoisseurs La Tribe. Titled  ‘Wild is the Wind’, the collection is inspired by the iconic Nina Simone song of the same name, attempting to capture the singer’s soulful essence through a range of rich hues and elegant silhouettes.  You can expect everything from ballet flats to boots to appear throughout the range, complemented by fresh additions to the brand’s curation of bags, socks and slippers. Our top pick? The Dune wedge — an elevated platform style to take us effortlessly from the office to dinner and everywhere in between.

Part one of AW24 will launch on Friday 23rd February at latribe.co.nz

2. Sustainable skin

As much as we love investing in skincare, it’s common knowledge that the beauty industry is one of the biggest offenders when it comes to waste. In an effort to reduce their climate impact, many brands are launching refillable versions of their products, with local skincare label Raaie being the latest to join the party. As of last week, their best-selling Cocoon Ceramide Cream is now available as a pod refill — an option which can reduce your carbon emissions by 70%  — and, better yet — is cheaper than buying a brand new jar. “Skincare is such a high consumption industry, but it doesn’t need to be,” says Raaie founder, Katey Mandy. While refills of their other products aren’t available just yet, they are now offering a 20% discount code for all other collected refills (find out more here).

Available as a one-time purchase or as a subscription refill service, you can get your hands on a top up at raaie.co.nz

3. Thread together

On the international fashion news front, Danish designer Ganni was notably absent from Copenhagen Fashion Week. Instead of taking up their regular runway slot to close out the week, the label showcased the talent of seven emerging local creatives through an exhibition,  “Future, Talent, Fabrics,” which featured commissioned works using textiles developed through the Fabrics of the Future initiative that Ganni launched in 2021. Collaborating with Copenhagen Fashion Week’s New Talent program, the brand selected seven up and coming Danish artists and designers for the exhibition, with several of them choosing to create looks that stayed true to Ganni’s distinctive DNA. As for their latest collection? While Ganni’s Fall ’24 campaign has left Scandinavians satiated, we welcome their decision to shift the focus from fast fashion to future talent.

4. Ready, set, reset

Keen to kickstart your fitness routine in 2024? For one week this February, the team at Almighty (aka our afternoon beverage of choice) will be hosting the first Almighty Active Reset — a week of free movement and health happenings to inspire Kiwis to get active and identify their fitness goals. No matter where you’re based around Aotearoa, you’ll be able to get involved from the comfort of your home as all the action will be taking place online from Thursday 15th February to Wednesday 21st February, in partnership with leading national fitness and wellness providers (read: Sala, Fitness All Together, and more). For each day of the Reset, a new online tutorial will go live, with everything from yoga to running, HIIT workouts to meditation, and even nutritious recipes to try out.

Those looking to get involved in the Active Reset can sign up from Friday 2nd February at activereset.drink almighty.com. All participants will be delivered a new digital wellness experience daily from a different provider, starting from the 15th Feb.

5. A good once over

Need glossy locks in a flash? Ghd has been the gold standard in hair styling for over twenty years now, and thanks to their latest straightener release, the Chronos, you can achieve perfectly styled tresses in just a couple of strokes. Named after the goddess of time, Chronos works three times faster than previous stylers without the risk of damage. Created with new HD-responsive technology, it’s able to identify different styling motions and provides heat monitoring accuracy by maintaining the optimum 185°C temperature – delivering up to 85% more shine with three times more breakage protection. Just what we need after exposing our locks to a couple of months of strong summer sun!

The Chronos is available in selected retailers and online at ghdhair.com
