Something to sip, something to sniff, and a couple of vibrant new products to add to your wish list for Christmas.

1. Welcome home

Regarded as the best in the natural fragrance game for their 100% plant-derived perfumes, local brand Abel is spreading its wings to the realm of home fragrance this week with the launch of their very first room sprays. In an ongoing mission to innovate and expand, Abel Founder Frances Shoemack teamed up with French Perfumer Dr Fanny Grau on the new range, which Shoemack reveals was a natural extension of their existing fragrances. “Our customers have been asking for Abel in their home almost from day one,” she says. “Fanny and I have worked with the latest biotechnology and plant science to create a set of three beautiful scents that are not just non-toxic, but will elevate any interior space.”

Abel’s room sprays are available in 100ml bottles and can be purchased online.

2.  On the rocks

If an evening of quality whisky, exceptional food and even better company sounds like your idea of a good time, then listen up. On Saturday the 28th of October, the iconic Scottish whisky brand Laphroaig will be partnering with renowned Kiwi chef Rewi Spraggon (also known as the Hāngi Master) on an exclusive event hosted at Mechanics Bay in Tāmaki Makaurau. There, attendees will sample a number of Laphroaig drams and cocktails designed to complement an extensive menu of dishes curated by Spraggon – a selection of which will be cooked on-site using the ancient Māori practice of hāngi. Starting with a range of canapés composed of locally-sourced seafood, meat, and produce, a number of shared mains will follow, with a Laphroaig infused steam pudding with Kawakawa ice cream to finish. Guests can also look forward to a guided whisky tasting hosted by Laphroaig brand ambassador Rory Donnelly during the evening, and will even take home a gift bag at the end of the night to remember the occasion.

Laphroaig presents Tales of Peat, Salt and Fire will take place at Mechanics Bay Event Space on Saturday October 28th between 6.30pm – 9.30pm. Tickets are on sale now for $220 at Eventbrite. Each ticket includes canapés, mains, and desserts, a selection of six drams and Laphroaig cocktails, and a Laphroaig gift bag to take home.

3. Candy curls

Looking for a suitable Christmas gift to give the beauty buff in your life? To celebrate 25 years since the launch of their brand, hair tech giant Dyson has launched a bold new Ceramic Pop colourway for their coveted Dyson Supersonic hair dryer and Dyson Airwrap multi-styler. Drawing direct inspiration from the colour scheme of Dyson’s first manufactured machine – the G-Force vacuum cleaner – the Ceramic Pop colourway combines hues of blush pink, topaz and orange in a vibrant medley. Available for a limited time only and expected to sell out fast, we recommend getting your hands on one stat.

4.  Beige brigade

As warmer days approach, there’s truly nothing better than indulging in an ice-cold tipple or two, and this summer we know what we’ll be reaching for. Last week local brand Pals added a new flavour to its lineup which they affectionately dubbed ‘The Beige One’, but after sampling it for ourselves, we’re here to say that this one is anything but beige in taste. Combining triple distilled Vodka with Pink Guava, Lime and Soda, The Beige One packs a zesty punch. The best part? It’s crafted with all-natural ingredients, free from gluten, artificial colours, sweeteners, or preservatives, ensuring you savour the full flavour without any unwanted additives.

The Beige One can be purchased in all good liquor stores now.

5.  True colours

Practical, comfortable, and effortlessly cool – there’s a reason why Timberland’s classic boot has earned such a cult following over the years. While typically known for their neutral colour palette, the brand has branched out into the bright and bold to celebrate their 50th year in operation, with a new range of colours now available in their iconic 6-inch boot. From Barbie pink to icy teal, there’s a statement hue to suit all personalities. Those looking to get the full ensemble can also purchase one of the brand’s 100% cotton hoodies as well as beanies and socks which mirror the boot’s vivid colour palette.
