1. Silky smooth
Fancy sleek salon-worthy locks without the heat damage? Start saving now. Dyson has announced that they will be releasing an all-new straightening hair tool, the Airstrait™. Similarly to the brand’s coveted Airwrap™, the Airstrait™ utilises focussed airflow to dry and straighten your hair simultaneously – meaning you can save serious time in the mornings. The Dyson Airstrait™ straightener has ‘Wet’ and ‘Dry’ styling modes, and a ‘Cool’ mode to set the style. With intelligent heat control, a Hyperdymium motor (to generate light but high speed airflow) and precision air jets, you can achieve smooth, shiny tresses in mere minutes.
The Dyson Airstrait™ straightener will be available in New Zealand in 2024. Register your interest at dyson.co.nz
2. Ginger spice
Chilly days call for a wintery libation or two, and this week we’re opting for one of the gin variety. In celebration of World Gin Day on June 10th, Lighthouse Gin and The Brit are teaming up to introduce the GIN-ger Kiss cocktail, a decadently boozy take on one of Aotearoa’s favourite biscuits. Featuring white cacao liqueur, cream, nutmeg and Lighthouse’s signature double-distilled gin, it’s a suitably spicy way to top off your week.
Available at The Brit in Tamaki Makaurau for a limited time – from May 25th to June 30th.
3. Cosy for a cause
In a heartwarming partnership between the Middlemore Foundation and Standard Issue, Jumper for Jumper has been spreading warmth and comfort within local communities for the past three years. Returning once again for 2023, Jumper for Jumper has gifted 2000 knitted jumpers already, with the goal of donating 3000 by the end of this winter. For every jumper purchased in-store and online, Standard Issue’s talented team will knit and donate one jumper; and those who wish to donate directly can also purchase a children’s jumper for $30. If you needed even more of an incentive to invest in one of the brand’s luxurious cashmere knits, this is it.

4. Sun-kissed
As we shift into winter, cooler days and a lack of vitamin D mean that many of us are losing our sunkissed tans from summer. If there’s one brand we trust to bring us consistently reliable self-tanners, it’s Bondi Sands. After years of clinical trials and development, the brand has released its new range of Technocolour 1-hour express tans, available in four different shades to suit a broad spectrum of skin tones. Featuring patented Dermachromatic Colour Technology, the range provides the perfect concoction of active tanning ingredients, electrolyte hydration and colour enhancers, resulting in an effortlessly smooth, streak-free tan that complements your skin colour and undertones. Better yet, it’s also fragrance free – so you don’t have to fret about the dreaded fake-tan smell that seems to linger for days after bronzing yourself.

5. Runway rewind
Between Maggie Marilyn’s idyllic beach front show ‘The Best of It’, and Wynn Hamlyn’s revved-up runway underneath Sydney’s Central train station, there was so much to see (and many clothes to add to our wish lists). Social media figure Caitlin Wiig was FQ’s eyes and ears throughout this Afterpay Australian Fashion Week (AAFW), bringing us a rundown of all the exquisite shows she attended. Through her insightful coverage, we were able to fully immerse ourselves in the action, ensuring that no fashion moment went unnoticed.
In case you missed it, you can read Caitlin’s full wrap up here.
