Each week the Fashion Quarterly team rounds up what to read, buy, see, shop, eat and drink.

1. Louis Vuitton takes Shanghai

Yesterday evening, the Shipyard Repair Docks on the Huangpu River in Shanghai were decorated with hundreds of crystal chandeliers, making an opulent setting to show the Louis Vuitton Spring-Summer 2022 Collection.

A spin-off on the original Paris Fashion Week show in October this year, creative director Nicolas Ghesquière presented 43 existing outfits alongside an additional 19 looks and three handbags.

2. A supernatural scent

If you’re familiar with the woody-floral fragrance Alien by Thierry Mugler, you’ll be delighted to know that the French fragrance house has just realised a new iteration, Alien Goddess, described as a ‘solar, floral bouquet’.

Notes of fresh Italian bergamot awaken your senses while you take in the sweet scent of Indian jasmine and decadent Madagascan vanilla.

Alien Goddess is available at Farmers, Smith & Caughey’s, selected pharmacies and department stores, and TheMarket.com.

3. The latest 'Forever' capsule from Maggie Marilyn

The latest ‘Forever’ capsule by Maggie Marilyn launches this Friday, starring seven 100% organic cotton shirts. The shirts are a romantic nod to joyous summer escapades, and each one is named after designer Maggie Hewitt’s favourite beaches in the Bay of Islands. The capsule also includes three brilliantly coloured silk scarves for endless styling opportunities — tie them into a top, skirt, bag, hair accessory, or mix and match to make a complete outfit.

Discover the capsule at maggiemarilyn.com from Friday 19 November.

4. A sustainable mascara

For beauty founder Emma Peters, creating her latest product and first-ever mascara was no easy feat. The resulting Aleph ‘Lift/Lengthen’ mascara is an impressive natural formulation that doesn’t compromise on performance. It’s free from microplastics and includes a unique blend of peptides to strengthen and lengthen your lashes over time.

Many mascaras use microplastics to help coat the lashes with pigment, which irritate the skin and end up in oceans. As Peters explains, “It’s got to the point now where we’re seeing the chemicals of these plastics inside marine animals. This must stop.”

The mascara is designed to resist water and oil, and can be used alongside water or cream-based makeup for all-day stay. Packaged in glass, the vial can be sent back to Aleph for sterilisation and refilling.

5. Elevate your kombucha experience

Kombucha connoisseur Amber Campbell of Good Buzz has created an artisanal range of booch from locally-sourced fruits, native shrubs and herbs.

Available in two delectable flavours, Hawkes Bay Peach & Kawakawa and Gisborne Lemon & Manuka Leaf, the unique notes will inspire even the most discerning beverage lovers.

Speaking of the botanical-inspired range, Campbell explains, “we’ve let this beautiful native herb (Kawakawa) shine through in flavour alongside the soft undertones of the peach. Manuka Leaf, on the other hand, is thought to carry anti-bacterial and immune-boosting properties – and we’ve paired it together with wild, hand-picked lemons to provide a dryer, slightly zesty taste profile”.

Find your very own batch of Good Buzz ‘A’ Series Kombucha at New World supermarkets, speciality grocery stores, and local cafés.
