5 things we love this week: decadent fragrances, Lorde’s cheeky cover art & more

By Fashion Quarterly

Each week the Fashion Quarterly team rounds up what to read, buy, see, shop, drink and eat.

1. Together by Jasmin Sparrow X Glen Prentice

A collection between jewellery designer Jasmin Sparrow and fashion designer Glen Prentice, Together is a romantic and intricate affair.

Prentice’s delicately beaded works include Juliet caps for bridal and other occasions, bralettes, and pouches made from pearls, precious gems and glass beads.

Complementing these intricate works is a sensual five-piece jewellery collection by Sparrow, mimicking the body’s natural curves. The pieces are encouraged to be worn together for a layered yet subtly mismatched look.

Pieces from the Together Collection are currently available for pre-order or made-to-order at jasminsparrow.com

2. Dermalogica Smart Response Serum

If you’re after the latest in beauty innovations, we currently love the new Smart Response Serum from Dermalogica, which helps to prevent skin damage before it starts. The serum uses active ingredients that respond to dehydration signals, brighten the skin, soothe and reduce the appearance of redness, and smooth and provide a firming effect.

We’ve been applying the Smart Response Serum morning and night after cleansing and toning, allowing one minute for absorption – it’s easy as that!

Shop the Smart Response Serum at dermalogica.co.nz and pick up the new Winter issue of Fashion Quarterly to read more about this skincare must-have.

3. Deadly Ponies Burgundy Bulle

A regular request from the Deadly Ponies community, the burgundy colourway is now part of the Bulle family. A rich and robust shade, burgundy adds a touch of warmth to any sartorial occasion, evoking a fireside feeling.

The full-bodied colour has been achieved through vegetable tanning, and the tactile ripple effect across the leather is reminiscent of the path mapped by molten lava.

Instantly recognisable and inimitable in its finish, the decadent new hue is available in Deadly Ponies classics Mr Caiman Mini, Mr Caiman Twist, Mr Mini Gator Gang and Mr Gator.

The Bulle capsule in burgundy is exclusively available in Deadly Ponies stores and at deadlyponies.com.

4. Lorde's Solar Power cover art

We’re here for Lorde’s new cover art for her upcoming rumoured single (and album name) Solar Power, photographed by New Zealand artist Ophelia Jones.

The cheeky cover image has become the subject of many a meme, but to us, it invokes energising feelings of sundrenched freedom and joyful trips to the beach, as well as the lightness that summer brings.

Lorde has announced on her website that ‘patience is a virtue’, and since it’s been four years since her last album, we’re trying our best to practice patience for this highly anticipated comeback.

5. Glasshouse Fragrances Sugar Coated Collection

To celebrate its 15th birthday, Glasshouse Fragrances has launched a limited-edition Sugar Coated collection to satisfy your sweet tooth and elicit captivating sensory experiences.

Inspired by the longevity of the brand’s popular gourmand scent, A Tahaa Affair, the collection of candles is doused in edible notes of creamy vanilla, buttery caramel, nutty praline and other delights.

The Sugar Coated fragrances include Party On, Rich & Famous and Movie Night, delicately hand-poured in Sydney at Glasshouse Fragrances’ atelier.

Shop the Sugar Coated collection exclusively at glasshousefragrances.com, and read our interview with Glasshouse Fragrances founder Nicole Eckles in the Winter issue of Fashion Quarterly, available in-store from 14 June 2021.
