Although we are spoilt for choice when it comes to ways to find wardrobe inspiration, no source quite rivals the excitement of collections fresh from the runway. The sheer scale of the international circuit makes for micro trends galore, but there’s larger common threads at play too.
Scroll on to discover five key summer trends that kept cropping up on the catwalks this season.
1. Citrus glow
When it comes to colour, there’s no ignoring the wave of juicy citrus shades — think tangerine, lemon and lime for your daily dose of Vitamin C.
2. Mini lengths
Love or loathe it, hemlines are certainly on the rise. Mini skirts made an overwhelming appearance this season, those weary of the style might want to try a mini paired with a sweater or crisp shirt for a more grown-up feel.
3. Noughties revival
The early 2000s is the decade du jour: hello butterflies, low-rise jeans and barely there tops. Although it may all feel like a little too much, too soon, we suggest taking a “jeans and nice top” approach if you’re ready to give it a whirl.
4. Bold stripes
If your wardrobe is in need of a print update, it might be worth investing in a graphic stripe, best worn vertical in a flowing silhouette.
5. More is more
Perhaps all the time we’ve spent cooped up in tracksuits has something to do with it, but full-blown glamour is back — being overdressed is a welcomed occurrence. The bigger, sparklier and more extravagant, the better.
