At 1pm today the highly anticipated Sex and the City reboot ‘And Just Like That’ debuts on Neon and SkyGo, kicking off with a double-episode premiere.
With the reboot set to be wiser and sexier than ever, take a trip down memory lane as we reminisce on five favourite fashion moments from Sex and the City.
1. Carrie's tutus
SATC costume designer Patricia Field found the white tutu in a bargain bin for $5. It became the most recognisable look of the series, with Carrie wandering the streets of New York wearing the tutu and a pink tank in the opening credits.
The tutu holds much significance for Carrie and her character evolution. In the final episode of the television series, she is reunited with Mr Big in a grown-up green tulle number.
2. Charlotte's Elizabeth Taylor dress
Some would argue that Charlotte was the real style queen of Sex and the City, and she often looked to Elizabeth Taylor to boost her mood, including wearing this strapless pink midi dress.
3. Carrie's Christian Dior newspaper dress
In the show’s third season, Carrie wore this fall 2000 Christian Dior dress for her confrontation with Mr Big’s ex-wife Natasha. Actress Sarah Jessica Parker was spotted again in the same dress on the movie set for ‘Sex and the City 2’.
4. Miranda's overalls & puffer coat
While some say Miranda had the worst style of her posse, perhaps she was beyond her years in practical dressing, not to mention her love of power suits in her job as a high-powered lawyer. Pictured is Miranda in an iconic monochromatic overalls & puffer coat ensemble, and whether you love or hate the look, it’d definitely be well received today.
5. Samantha's pink suit
A seasoned professional in colour-blocking, Samantha wore so many bright and bold outfits that it’s difficult to pick just one. Her wardrobe had everything from feathery robes and ornate swimwear to sequin pantsuits and little red dresses, but Samantha’s pink Escada pantsuit is a true highlight.
